WorldFAQ™

WorldFAQ for the Palm Computing Platform is a travel utility and world reference database. The latest version, 1.91, requires Palm OS version 3.1 or later. It's available to all registered owners free of charge. Here's a summary of its major features.

Reference Information

WorldFAQ comes preloaded with information about more than 720 world cities, countries, currency regions, and time zones--daylight savings time dates and times, latitudes and longitudes, telephone codes, airport names and codes, currency exchange rates, populations, and more. You can add and delete cities and store your own information in location-specific Notes. You can also update the exchange rates as often as you like by simply clicking on the exchange rate link above, copying and pasting the rate information into a new Palm desktop memo, HotSyncing, and selecting Menu/Options/Update Exchange Rates in WorldFAQ.

Calculations

WorldFAQ calculates distances between locations, sunrise and sunset times, and currency conversions. (You can download up-to-date currency rates from this web site.) Once you tell the program where you live, it also calculates dates and times around the world (current, past, and future) for all 720 locations, taking into account time zone differences and daylight savings time. You can, for instance, check the time in London, when it's 9 AM at your office, to make sure you don't wake an important client at home.

Calendar Management

WorldFAQ changes your system clock and the times of appointments when you move from place to place and in and out of daylight savings time. It also adjusts the times of selected Date Book appointments if you desire. For instance, if you fly from San Francisco to Paris, once you tell WorldFAQ you're in Paris, it changes the system clock to Paris' current time and adjusts your appointments to Paris time if you tell it to.
