PAKA

'PAKA' is the creator ID for a set of Palm OS programming projects that are described in detail in the book Advanced Palm Programming: Professional Developer's Guide (John Wiley & Sons, ISBN 0471390879). This is the unofficial "official" web site, maintained by one of the book's authors, for comments, additions, corrections, and general information about the book.

Its authors, Steve Mann and Ray Rischpater, are very interested in your comments about the book. Of course we want you to say glowing, positive things, so that we can print them here and convince every budding Palm OS programmer to buy the book. More importantly, we're interested in what's wrong with the book--errors (hopefully there are very few), algorithm refinements, comments about what's missing, suggestions for future topics, whatever you feel like saying.

Nice Things People Have Said

From Melodie DeJong: "Your book is quite excellent. I found it at the perfect time in my palm developing evolution. I had already gone through the SDK, companion, etc. and developed a few prototypes. I was at a point where I was wondering, okay, what's next? But, I had exhausted Palm's documentation. Your book is great for getting to that next level."

From Ramon D. Santa Ana: "Very well suited for those who are ready to do leading-edge Palm programming."

From Carl Quick: "Really do not have too much to say other than how much I have really enjoyed the book. Been doing this stuff for a couple of years but have still gleaned some great tips from the book and learned some neat new ways to do things. Thanks for putting it together and making it available. Your book is the best one I have read thus far and believe me, I have them all."

From Bradley Ward: "This is an excellent book that delivers on what the title promises. I've been a heavy duty developer for 20+ years, and I have had to make numerous operating system and paradigm shifts. I've done it often enough that I have a fairly standard approach to self-teaching myself new technologies. I go to a big book store and buy books. I will get one or two basic books, but then look for more advanced books as I rarely want to spend much time writing Hello World programs. So your book was a perfect selection."

From Ravi Singh: "I would like to say to both of you that the book is excellent ! I just bought it a week ago and I found just about every chapter interesting and it was worth every penny."
