BMP-to-PBM

BMP-to-PBM lets you open and view Windows BMP and Palm bitmap (PBM) files and save them in Palm bitmap format to desktop files and Palm databases (PDB). The program automatically converts 1,4, and 8-bit BMP graphics to Palm 1,4, and 8-bit bitmaps, retaining the original BMP color table, and converts 24-bit BMP files into 8-bit Palm bitmaps. When saving PBM images, you can select a compression method and remove the color table from 8-bit graphics, reducing their sizes. BMP-to-PBM includes an image viewer for previewing and managing images in files and PDB databases.

The demo version works with bitmaps of up to 25 x 25 pixels. You can download it here. The full version costs $24.95. You can order it on our secure on-line store

Requirements

BMP-to-PBM requires POSE 3.3 or greater on Windows or Macintosh (untested on Unix) using a Palm OS 4.0 or greater color ROM. It does not currently work with the Palm Simulator.

Program Limitations

  • Does not support 16-bit or high-density graphics.
  • Only supports 72 dpi images.
  • Does not handle compressed BMP files.
  • Can only save bitmaps of up to 64K bytes uncompressed, but you can open and view bitmaps of any size, limited by heap space.
